The past few weeks have been quite a journey as I navigated some challenges at the Center, especially with the recent denial of our Zoning Application for a potential new building. It’s been a mix of emotions—going from hopeful anticipation to shock and disbelief, and finally finding a sense of resolution as I worked through everything. Throughout this process, I kept coming back to the core values established by the founding members of the Hospitality Center: “a true and simple love for people.” This belief has really helped guide me as I processed my feelings of disappointment and started planning for the future with the Board Leadership.
Transitions
During a thoughtful conversation with a dear friend of the Mission this week, I was reminded of the Bible verse where a disciple of Jesus asks, “And who is my Neighbor?” This question ties in beautifully with the second Commandment: “Love your Neighbor as yourself.” Reflecting on this, I realized that our mission at the Center is all about our commitment to loving our neighbors. This dedication shines through in the care we provide to our guests every day and serves as a meaningful reminder of our purpose.
As we get ready to move into our new space, I hope we can continue to be great neighbors—to our guests and to everyone around us. We truly need the support of our community, and I sincerely hope to connect with compassionate neighbors who will join us in caring for those who are in need. If you feel inspired to help us during this transition, please reach out to me at [email protected]. Your support would mean a lot to us as we embark on this new chapter!
