Stay Safe During Cold Weather with Norristown Hospitality Center’s Code Blue Shelter
The Shelter is closed for the season. We will reopen in the fall of 2024 when the temperatures fall to 32 degrees.
Montgomery County declares a Code Blue Emergency when temperatures or wind chills plunge to 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below. This can be a dangerous time for people experiencing homelessness, and that’s where the Norristown Hospitality Center steps in.
Here’s what you need to know:
- The Center operates a Code Blue Shelter offering 25 beds for those seeking refuge from the cold.
- The shelter is located at St. John’s Church at Diocesan Center (520 Church Street in Norristown), inside the Cecil and Grace Bean’s Soup Kitchen.
- During a Code Blue emergency, the shelter opens at 8:00 PM and remains open until 6:30 AM the next morning.
- Space is limited, so arriving early is highly recommended.
