1 | Full Service
The Hospitality Center is the only day shelter in downtown Norristown that accepts anyone with full services. Those full services include shelter, food, shower, phone, fax, mail, and access to two social workers each day.
2 | Breakfast Five Days a Week
The Center is the only place those experiencing homelessness and poverty can receive breakfast five days a week. There are twenty-one free meals provided in Norristown weekly. The Center provides breakfast from 7:00am-8:00am and is the only place guests can receive a free breakfast at that time of day. Some of our early morning clients are among the working poor. They come for breakfast before going to their day labor or minimum wage job. The free meal helps sustain these folks.
3 | Shower Five Days a Week
The Hospitality Center is the only public place in downtown Norristown a person can take a free shower five days a week. Any person can take a shower daily at the Center. We provide a towel and toiletries at the center.
4 | Case Management on Demand
This ministry that you support is the only place in the entire network of private and public agencies in the area where a client can always receive case management on demand, with no need to make an appointment. Every other place a person will need to make an appointment, often days or weeks away. Personal crisis often need immediate attention from a trained responder. The Center functions as a Crisis Management Facility for clients in crisis who cannot get to their regular case manager for weeks. If you are the one in crisis, the immediate access to a social worker or addiction counselor is invaluable.
5 | Optional Devotionals
The Center is the only day shelter where five days a week, clients are given the option to stay or leave prior to daily devotions. The Hospitality Center, founded by an interfaith ecumenical group of congregations, does not demand faith in exchange for services. Faith is a personal choice. Service to the poor is a divine command. The staff and volunteers witness with deeds at every point. Prior to daily devotions, clients are invited to stay or leave, which will not affect the services they receive.
